"Connect... and Collaborate! Working Together for a Healthy Urban Forest" - GUFC's 17th Annual Conference & Awards Program

The 2007 GUFC Annual Conference, held at the Rome Forum in Rome, Georgia (2 Government Plaza), featured inspiring keynote speakers, informative educational sessions, interesting tours, and an exciting urban forestry awards ceremony. Keynote speakers included Nicholas Kuhn, City Forester for the City of Albuquerque; Clay Council of The Home Depot Foundation; and Joe Wilson of Greening Milwaukee and Chairman of the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council. Educational sessions included topics for nonprofits and tree boards as well as for arborists, urban foresters, city and county personnel, landscape and tree care professionals, and all who are concerned with maintaining a healthy urban forest. Highlights of this year's conference included a pre-conference workshop on tree inventory techniques, a half-day collaboration workshop conducted by the Institute for Conservation Leadership, and tours of Rome's urban forest and Berry College. Also included on the agenda were an opening night networking reception, our traditional bike ride and tree planting, and a cutting-edge urban forest product showcase by our many exhibitors. CEUs were available.
