About the speakers and the program:

Ron Sawhill has practiced landscape architecture since 1980 and is registered professionally in Georgia and South Carolina. His teaching and research continues to focus on better integrating stormwater management into the overall site design process in order to produce site developments that respect and respond to existing natural conditions and long-term environmental health. At this program, Ron will present an overview of our “addiction to imperviousness,” the need to design to restore the hydrologic process, and the importance of maximizing vegetation, especially trees.

Bill Hodgins is Engineer with Savannah’s Stormwater Management Department, and
David Oettinger is a municipal arborist with Savannah’s Park and Tree Department.
These experienced professionals will explore and explain the beneficial relationship between stormwater management and urban tree preservation, with an emphasis on pervious paving systems. Several Savannah case studies will be presented and discussed.

Program co-sponsored by the Georgia Southern Botanical Garden.
