Female College Trees

Female College Trees in Covington were nominated for HIstoric tree status. The trees are located on the site of the Female College designated as Newton County Historical Site 16 by the Newton County Historical Society. There are at least 28 trees located on the site, all nominated for Historic status. The largest tree on the site is a 53" southern red oak located on the east side of the building. The trees are significant to the community because they are associated with the site on which the City of Covington's public education system began.
