Chinese Chestnuts of Glenridge Hall

The four Chinese Chestnut trees (Castenea mollisima) are located on the private land known as Glenridge Hall, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The trees are believed to be part of a grove planted in the early 1900s by owner Thomas K. Glenn, a prominent Atlanta banker whose heirs now own the property. One of the four chestnuts is the State Champion Chinese Chestnut tree, so designated by the Georgia Forestry Commission. This tree has a circumference of 177 inches and a crown spread of 73 feet.
